Leia Jordon is a successful family law attorney, and the mother of a ten-year-old who is the center of her world. Her life is going well, and she isn’t making any waves until she nearly runs over Uzair Knight in the parking lot of a local fast-food establishment. As soon as they meet, Leia’s carefully controlled world gets a little out of control when Uzair shows interest and starts to pursue her.

Uzair Knight is a rapper and thought to be a bad boy among Atlanta’s music scene, which is the opposite of what Leia thinks she needs. She’s done the bad boy thing before and that ended with her being a single mother with her child’s father in jail.

Uzair has in own issues. He has a strangely populated immediate family that consists of his father’s mistress and her son. Not to mention, all the men in his family can hear women’s thoughts. This gift is often beneficial when dealing with the opposite sex, except when it comes to Leia. Leia makes him question if his gift is a good thing or bad thing, and if it’s something he’s ever going to be able to tell her about.

Uzair’s gift isn’t the only thing Uzair keeps from Leia, and the longer they know each other, the harder it gets to keep all of his secrets under wraps. However, he damn sure is going to try if it means making Leia his.

Leia and Uzair have baggage that could easily break them, especially the kind in the form of Leia’s ex. In addition are Uzair’s lies and the bad example parents his set, not helping the situation.
But as secrets get revealed, and undeniable chemistry builds between the pair, they are forced to face the things that could keep them apart so they can be together.
